"La Jolla Coastline" was painted alla prima one gorgeous, sunny morning in the cliffs of La Jolla, California.  Challenged by the ever-changing tidal currents, I aimed to capture the movement of the crashing waves along the rocky coastline. The deep purples in the shadows contrasted nicely with the aquamarine of the ocean.  I then continued the painting in my studio working from photographs.
