I went to an amazing day-long painting event at the renowned Salmagundi Club in NYC recently where models were posed throughout the day in different rooms of the historic Brownstone Mansion on Fifth Avenue in Greenwich Village. Founded in 1871, the Salmagundi Club is one of the oldest art organizations in the United States and has an elegant period parlor and library.
This is my study of a model posed in the lower level bar/billiards room. Artists could stay in one room all day and work with one model or drift around from room to room and do quick sketches. All in all, it made for a great day of painting!
